Reaching for Water
Screen Printing, Shibori, Clay Resist, Cochineal Dye
“Reaching for Water” is the crisis of water pollution and access to clean water coming together. The textile industry contributes to 20% of the global water pollution due to dyeing, finishing products, and microplastics. The main motifs are two hands made of water that are reaching out to grasp each other, but never touching. The message is that as humans, we constantly reach for clean water as it is a resource we take for granted, but if we aren’t careful, it could slip away from us.
